Jonesville Middle School Clubs
2009-2010


We encourage all students to join a club. We recommend membership in one club only, but allow for membership in no more than two clubs.

4-H-
4-H empowers youth to reach their full potential, working and learning in partnership with caring adults.

Art-
We will be working on several projects like mixing colors, parallel perspective, drawing, depth and contrast.  Sponsor:  Mrs. Sanders

 Drama-
Improv games and readers' theater---Students who participate need to be able to work with others, be in front of others, a good audience member, and well behaved.
Sponsor: Mr. Butler

 FBLA-
Offers students the chance to experience leadership and other fundamentals of success, while engaged in fun and rewarding activities.  Members learn through participating in a variety of projects and events that help them build their skills, while contributing to the improvement of the community in which they live, their school, and their chapter.

 FCA-
 (Fellowship of Christian Athletes)- is the largest Christian sports organization in America. FCA focuses on serving local communities by equipping, empowering and encouraging people to make a difference for Christ.  We will have morning devotionals as well as many other fun activities!  All athletes are welcome!  Come see what FCA is all about!

 Gardening/Building-
Educational landscaping for the purpose of beautification.  Working on projects to improve the exterior of JMS!Sponsor: Mrs. Yarbrough and Mr. Simpson

 History-
If you join the history club, you will:
a. Record history by participating in the Veterans History Project
b. Learn about the history of Bowdon and Carroll County from guest speakers
c. Compete in the fun online stock market game
d. Learn about antiques
e. Learn about tracing your family history
There is no cost to join.  There are no membership fees.

Mission or purpose:  Scrapbook Middle School Memories

Jr. Beta-(academic club)
A student-centered organization, continually develops and nurtures individuals by providing opportunities and experiences enabling them to demonstrate the ideals of character, achievement, service and leadership in a global community. Club membership is by invitation only based on academic achievement.

Student Government - (appointed club)
Comprised of officers and representatives from each grade level as follows: 
      6th- 2 Representatives
      7th- Secretary and Treasurer along with 4 representatives
      8th- President and Vice-President along with 6 representatives
Students who wish to run for office will sign up in the commons area during lunch this week and may begin campaigning.  The election will be held on Tuesday, August 26.  Candidates are required to have an overall 3.0 (B) average and parent permission.

The JMS Student Government offers students leadership opportunities as a mechanism for school and community service.  Our purpose is to foster a spirit of cooperation among students and faculty. to promote and encourage activities for the best interest of the school, to provide a means for student expression, and to encourage student involvement.
